Happy Holidays!!

Holiday Season has arrived!! I'm so excited!! I hope that everyone had a good Thanksgiving! I did - I am very thankful for . . . Mommy, and Daddy, and my blanky and paci, and Grandma Louie, and Grandpa Louie, and Grandma Wilson, and all my aunts and uncles, and my doggies, and my kitty, and . . . lots of other stuff!!! I had such a good Thanksgiving with Mommy and Daddy! Daddy made the turkey, with a new recipe from Mommy, it used some new herbs that I have never had before, but it was yummy!! And then Mommy made everything else, including a Chocolate Pumpkin Pie!! Yum Yum!! Here's me eating some of my dinner:

We also hung up our Christmas lights. Our house looks so pretty now!! We hung icicle lights on the top of the porch and garage out front, then Mommy put lighted garland on the porch railings. She also put lights on our little juniper tree, and got three "pathway trees" with lights too! Today, like we try to do every year on the weekend after Thanksgiving, we went up into the mountains to take some pictures for our Christmas cards. But we didn't get too many pictures, because Mommy left my coat off for the long car ride up to the pass, but then found out that she really left it at home!!! Can you believe it!! So we bundled me up in blankets for about 3 pictures and that's it!! But it was really pretty in the mountains. It was snowing really lightly, and everything was covered. Mommy was so mad that she forgot my coat, because we could have gotten some really good pictures.

But we did get to see some Big Horn Sheep, about 10 of them were licking the ice in the middle of the road!! Here's a picture of the ram. The rest were ewes, or mommies, and two babies.

Daddy said that we will try to get some more pictures next weekend when we got up to Red Feather Lakes to cut our Christmas Tree!! Yippee!! I'm so excited!! I hope it's not as cold as it was last year! I can't believe that Christmas is almost here!! Mommy and Daddy are almost done with their shopping already (and no black friday excursions either!!) I wonder what Santa will bring me!?! And Mommy's almost done with her school. Just 5 more class days, and 1 final, and that's it!! She's been working so hard!! I'll be happy when she's done too!! Well - til next time!!

Hi There! Riley's taking a nap so I thought I would sneak in some info! We have been having beautiful weather here the last few days. It started over the weekend and I was very glad to see it for my trip to Red Mountain Open Space. Just a little background info for you guys, its about 15,000 acres and connects with two other open spaces (owned by the City of Fort Collins and the City of Cheyenne), making it a huge tract of protected land. Most of the property is rolling hills and hogbacks, but there are some really beautiful canyons and ridges. And because of the elevation changes the views are breathtaking!! You can see forever!! I uploaded the pictures to a Kodak Gallery, so if you haven't already seen them - take a look! The property will have 9 miles of trails to start, and they have numerous other trails in the plans if there are enough people visiting it to make them worth while. However, most of the property will never be open to the public (for various reasons - lack of intrest, resource protection, future sale to conservation buyer, etc). I was lucky because these closed areas were what I got to see on Saturday!! (that's the perks of knowing the rangers!!) So enjoy the pics, and hopefully I can add to them if I get to work there next year!!
This week Riley and I have spent quite a bit of time at the playground, it was near 80 degrees yesterday!! Today we made a fort in the living room, and he had a blast!! He spent nearly an hour crawling and walking in and out of it! I love how entertaining new things are!! Here's some pictures of his adventure!!

He is growing so quickly!! He now understands most everything we say, however, still refuses for the most part to talk. Don't get me wrong - He can babble like the best of them (especially when reading himself a story!) but doesn't want to repeat anything we try to get him to say. Most of the time he just whines to get what he wants, a bad habit we are trying to break! He consistantly says Da-Da, and even Daddy, but Kitty is the most common word out of his mouth. He still meows sometimes, and barks at dogs but sometimes he will say doggie. Other occasional words include cookie, cracker, ma-ma, and "hey-o" (when he's talking on his phone! so cute!!) He's a good boy for the most part (we have definately entered into toddlerhood and tantrums!!), but he can be a sweetheart when he wants to! He's very affectionate and loves giving Mommy and Daddy kisses, especially at night time and bye-byes. Also he loves helping Mommy with thing around the house, folding laundry, doing dishes, and feeding the doggies - which can be more of a curse than a blessing sometimes!! (Picture recently folded laundry in a heap on the floor, and dirty forks missing from the dishwasher container!!) As most mothers, I try to keep it positive and let him play with the basket, or close the dishwasher when we are done!! He really keeps us on our toes!!

I believe we have entered into the "playing pretend" phase. He loves to "eat imaginary food" out of empty bowls, and feed it to us!! He likes talking on the phone, reading to himself - it's so cute to be scared because there's no noise coming from upstairs, but when you go to check on him he's sitting in the rocking chair with a book, upsidedown, babbling!! He still loves playing peek-a-boo, and his trucks and cars. Now he varooms around the coffee table like an Indy car driver!! He also pretends with the vaccum cleaner or whatever the tool of the moment is!! He pulls on the toilet paper roll and "blows his nose" in it, and uses napkins to "clean up the mess" - even when there's no mess!! We are really looking forward to Christmas and the Holidays with him this year! Thanksgiving will be quiet again this year, but we plan on cutting our own tree again this year and so many other traditions we are excited to share with him!! Actually I'm just itching to get the decorations up!! (it a nice destraction from schoolwork)

I'm in the home stretch of school, just a paper and a test this week, then nothing until the week of Finals (One huge project/presentation, one more paper and one Final Exam!!) Almost there!! Cam is suppose to be planning the party, so we'll see how that turns out!! ;) I'll just be happy to be done!! And have family visit!! I hope everyone has a Happy and Safe Holiday Season!! because I'm sure you'll hear from Riley the most til Christmas!!

First Snow!!

IT FINALLY SNOWED!!! Usually we have our first snow of the season in the middle of October, but this year it was really late. It came last night. Mommy and I went out to play in it this morning, and I'm glad we did, because it was all melted by lunchtime. Obviously we didn't get a lot, the weather people on TV said it was about a 10th of an inch. It didn't even stick to the sidewalks or streets, just the grass. Here's me playing in the snow, I wasn't quite sure what to think of it.

So after about 10 minutes we went back in and I watched the doggies and kitty play in it. They seemed like they were having more fun than me!!
Tomorrow Mommy's going on a ride along with one of her supervisors at work to Red Mountain Open Space. It's the new open space opening next summer up by the Wyoming border. It sounds like a really neat place, and Mommy really wants to work there next summer, so she's getting a Private Tour!! She's so excited!! She'll have to tell you all about it next week. Other than that not a whole lot going on, just waiting for Thanksgiving!! It's just going to be me and Mommy and Daddy this year. But Mommy's got some new recipes that she wants to try out (I hope they aren't yucky!!) talk to ya later!! and stay warm everyone!

Wheelin!!

Hey everyone - last weekend, Mommy and Daddy took me wheelin' with Daddy's friend Shane. We went to the St. Vrain River in Boulder County. It was really bumpy, but it was fun!! We got to go through a lot of water, and I mean a LOT!!! We also went to a plane crash site. Here's some pictures from our trip. Mommy took lot's of videos too, but she hasn't had time to upload them yet.

Mommy only has 4 weeks of classes left, 5 weeks including finals, and 6 weeks until graduation!!! (that includes her week off for Thanksgiving) She's so excited!!! I'll be glad when she's done - I won't have to spend so much time at Ginny's house. Mommy's got a big paper and a presentation due this week, so she's been working extra hard, and I've been at Ginny's a lot this week. But it's all almost over!! Don't forget to keep your eyes peeled for thoose wheelin videos the next couple days!
