One Month Old

Happy "Month-Day" Amara!  (to quote my very good friend Cathy!)  Not much going on, but I thought I would at least share a few pictures with everyone.  I have a craft show coming up in a few weeks and since Amara will be spending the day with me in the booth I thought I would make some things for her to wear.  I have been wanting to try my hand at dresses, and now I had the perfect excuse!  So this weekend I spent a big chunk of the time crocheting my first dress!  It turned out super cute!!!  It's a tunic dress - so Yes, the sleeves are supposed to look like that!!  Lol.  And since I already sell baby booties in the shop I just had to make some for her!  Love the ballet slipper look of these!

Also, I thought these were cute.  This is the quilt she got from the quilt group at my church.  They give quilts to all the new babies.  They wanted a picture of her with it, so I thought I would share it with you all too.  It's so cute, now I need to do this with ALL the quilts she's gotten, and share/send them to everyone.  Look for those in the future!

And last, here's some of Riley.  We went round and round to get his Kindergarten picture.  The company never sent it, so we are just now getting it!  Here it is for you all to see.  Some of you will be getting copies in the mail soon, but if you would like a copy, or a specific size, just let me know and I'll get it to you.

This one Cameron took on one warm day this weekend.  The weather here has been so nice the boys have been playing outside a lot.  Last week Riley came home complaining of an ear ache, and after a trip to the doctor we found out it was an ear infection.  So he received explicit instructions to wear a hat outside at recess to protect the ear from the cold air.  Well, same instructions apply at home, and so this is what we found him wearing to play outside on that warm day.  if you cant see he's wearing boots, basketball babylegs with his shorts, (t-shirt with paper airplane babylegs on his arms under the coat), and his winter coat with the hood up for his ear.  Crazy boy!!

And one more of Daddy's Little Girl!!

Have a good rest of the week everyone!!!

Time flies when your having fun!!

Well, here I am getting behind on blogging again!  Ugh, I just can't keep up!  But as one of my friends so eloquently stated after her baby "I'm just having too much fun watching my "baby tv"!!  I can't get enough of this little girl!  She is so precious, and a perfect angel!  I couldn't have asked for a better baby!!  She sleeps almost all the time still, and still hardly ever cries.  If she really doesn't like something she'll let you know, but not without doing her usually ehh, ehh, ehh, whines before it hits full blown cries.  She is sleeping in 4-6 hour shifts at night (I know!!! I'm so lucky!!!) and usually for about 3 hour stretches during the day.  My afternoons are almost completely "ME TIME" because she will fall asleep when I take Riley to school (in the carseat) and I can bring her in and she'll stay asleep until it's time to pick him up.  So I just put the carseat back in the car to pick up Riley!  lol!!  It helps that this is Jayce's nap time too, and so if he takes a longer nap I can get things done around the house, take a shower, catch up on my crochet, or update the blog (like I'm doing now!).

Jayce still loves to be near, touching and helping with Amara.  Which has been hard since he's had a cold.  We've tried to keep him back so he isn't coughing on her, but he always wants to be in her face, patting her head, or covering her up with blankets (usually his snot and slobber filled "rags" that he carries around and sucks on like a pacifier).  So there's no leaving them alone together!  But we've found some things that he can help with -burping - he likes to pat her when Mommy burps her, holding her occasionally, holding her toys for her to look at, those sorts of things.  Riley still takes a backseat when possible.  He's great at fetching things for me (diapers, wipes, burp rags, etc.) and he always wants to "say Hi to Amara" by getting close to her face and talking to her, he's even done a few kisses here and there, but he's not into holding her just yet.  I'm sure he'll enjoy her more when she can move and play and interact more.  I absolutely see him being the one to get her smiling and giggling while she's hanging out in the swing or her bouncy seat.
Riley "saying hi"

Last week Grandma and Grandpa Louie came to visit.  It was a great relaxed time to spend with them.  The weather finally turned cold, and we even got a decent snowfall, so we spent the majority of the weekend inside playing.  They were great help taking Riley to school, playing with the boys to keep them entertained, and holding Amara so Cam and I could get some other things done.  Hopefully they didn't mind being smooshed in Jayce's bottom bunk every night, with Riley up top bugging them instead of sleeping!  ;)  Although Grandpa did say that he slept better here than he did at home (however I think that may have something to do with the level of energy here vs. at home!)

Ellen was nice enough to help me out with a sewing machine.  I inherited it this time last year, it was my Great-Aunt Kathryn's.  Ellen estimates it is from the 1930's.  It is the neatest thing, but it has sat unused for I don't even know how many decades!  My mom has had it since my Aunt died nearly 10 years ago, so it's been at least that long!   But since it's been taken care of before that, and the manual was still there, Ellen knew exactly what to do to get it up and running again!  And so that's what she did!  Now I have a machine to sew on!!  (this could be dangerous for me!!)  ;)  I'm not looking to do anything fancy, so I don't really see the point in buying a newer one.  And according to Ellen (and a friend of mine) with all the attachments that are with this one I could do more than I could ever dream with it!

Other things that have happened in the last couple weeks:  New years - We didn't do much of anything for this year.  We caught the NY ball drop on the news at 10 our time, we had let the boys stay up for that, then scooted them off to bed.  (and Mommy and Daddy weren't far behind!!)
Also, Amara had her first Doctor's appointment at nearly 2 weeks old.  She was already weighing in at 7 lbs 10 oz., so I'm sure she's passed 8 lbs by now.  She's growing really good, but the doctor and I were still concerned with her being tongue-tied and it affecting her nursing (I think that may have been Jayce's issues early on as well) so we went ahead and had her snipped.  If you don't know what I'm talking about you can google it for a picture, but basically there is a flap of skin "tying" the tip of the tongue to the bottom of the mouth which doesn't allow them to stick out their tongue and get a good latch when nursing.  So the Doctor just cut the flap of skin right there in the doctor's office (which was a little surprising, but nice that I could get it taken care of right then!)  And things have been much better since then.  All Better!!

Well, that's about all the updates I have for now.  We are just hanging out on a daily basis.  This month is pretty relaxed, February things start to pick up again.  I have another show that month for getting my business up and running again.  And my Bible Study starts again.  I'm looking forward to getting back in the swing of things.  But for now it's just watching Baby TV!!  And since I've got the real thing here's a few pictures to hold the rest of you over!!
