First Day of Kindergarten!!

And Just like that . . . I'm the mother of a child in school!  It's hard to believe that the past 5 years have gone by so fast.  It's hard to believe that I started this blog when I was pregnant with Riley, and now here I am posting about his first day of school!

Last Thursday was the First day.  He was such a brave man!!  No tears, but I could definitely tell there was some hesitation on his part.  He was his typical reserved, quiet self embarking on something new.  But we met his teacher at the playground gate, he lined up and walked into the school, and away from Mommy and Daddy.  And I was good.  I was able to hold off the tears (barely) until I got in the car to drive away.  I'm glad I was heading to a friends house that afternoon, so I had the privacy of my car and a 15 minute drive to compose myself.  ;)  Here are some pictures of Riley's First Day of Kindergarten:

I think my favorite part was the second day of Kindergarten!  Cam came home for lunch, knowing that I don't take Riley in until after lunch, and asked him if he was ready to go to school. His response: "I have to go to school AGAIN!!!"  hahaha, yep kiddo, sorry.  Just about everyday for the next 13+ years!!!  Of course now he cheers when I answer yes to the "do I go to school today" question.  We'll see how long that lasts!!  So far we haven't been able to get much out of him about school.  I know that Zach (the kid who doesn't talk) and Cameron sit at his table, and that recess and snack time are his favorite, otherwise he's a closed book.  Although, today when I dropped him off, he randomly remembered that they read the book Chicka Chicka Boom Boom (one of our favorites) and made Coconut Trees.  However, whether that was yesterday or last week I haven't got a clue!!  ;)

This weekend was my first showing for my business!  Baby Bear Designs Debut!!!  It went really good!  Not great, but good - and that works for me!  It's a small fair, for a small town, so I wasn't expecting a ton.  But I sold a few items on the spot (even a bigger item I wasn't expecting to go!) and got about 7 orders to work on over the next couple weeks.  So yay for me!!

Unfortunately, today I sat down and crunched the numbers with receipts and sales to see where I'm at for the year (yes this is the first time I'm doing this . . . Mother of two crazy boys, remember!!!) and I'm still pretty far in the hole.  It's never encouraging when you do the math, but I just have to remember - It's still the first year, and I still have the busiest part of the year left!  So . . . Who Needs A Hat?  ;)  lol!  I thought about doing another show in the next month or two (there are a few to choose from), but I think I'm just going to advertise for Halloween - the animal hats are perfect for dressing up, and can be used later, and do a Holiday push for Christmas gifts and winter wear through November.  Then Take a couple months off for Baby Girl!!!

I'm so excited to be having a girl!!  With all the busy-ness of MOPS Convention, The Fair and First Day of School stuff I haven't really gotten to sit down and revel in all the new experiences coming to us!  This week I've touched on that a little bit, but I know it will hit harder as we settle into a routine with school/MOPS.  Wow, is it really almost September already!  This year is flying by!  Hope everyone had a Fun Summer!  I'm ready to jump into fall with both feet (mostly because that usually means cooler weather!!)

Pool Time, MOPS Convention

Ok, I know I said I would be better at posting . . . sorry!  It's just been so crazy and all my spare time has been spent preparing for my booth this weekend.  I'm so excited!!  I've been working my butt off to get everything finished, and I'm almost there.  A few more headbands, and maybe a wreath or two, if time allows.  I'll be sure to take plenty of pictures to show everyone who can't stop by and see it for themselves.

But we've also been busy with other things!  A few weeks ago, ! got to teach Sunday School with my good friend/MOPS Mentor Mom, Sharon.  It was fun, and Riley was able to stay in the classroom with me.  Here's a few pictures from our time together:

Sunday was also the Larimer County Fair.  It's not as great as the county fairs back home, but we always try to at least stop by and check it out.  This years favorites: the Trains, The Tractors, and the Dirt Bike Trials Demo.  Jayce liked all the animals.  He's definitely not as scared of them as Riley was at that age, and was eager to get close and even pet some of them.  However, Riley still wouldn't even stand close enough for a picture!  Oh Well.

Then on Tuesday we took one last trip to City Park Pool.  It was hot and the water was cool!  To give his Mommy a break, we took Greg along with us.  He and Riley had so much fun going down the slide . . . it was hard to pull them away after lunch!

Then Wednesday we had our Ultrasound to Check out the new baby!!!  You can read all about that below.

Thursday I headed out to my annual MOPS Convention.  This year it was in Dallas, and oh boy am I glad the whole thing was indoors!!!  Dallas is YUCKY this time of year.  Overall, the convention was a good time, however this year definitely had it's ups and downs.  A few good workshops, a few not so good.  Most of the General Sessions were uplifting and energizing as expected, with the last one ending on a not so uplifting note.  And the Concerts were fun and loud - minus a few depressing songs at the end.  But like I said overall a good time.  Our steering team is small this year, so all 4 of us got to go.  It was a great bonding time for our group, and we got a lot of planning done at the end.  I think we're almost ready for this year to start!  Ok, not completely ready . . . give us a few more weeks!!  lol  I'm really looking forward to this year and the chance to lay back a little and enjoy it!

Well, I better get going - today is Riley's First Day of Kindergarten!!!  I can't believe he's so big already!  Not sure if I'll cry yet . . . guess we'll see in a few hours!  He's super excited.  We went to see his teacher, Mrs. Carlstrom yesterday and he seemed right at home in the classroom.  So many changes happening all at once!  Hopefully I'll get back on track and get another update early next week with his first day pictures and stuff from the fair this weekend.  Have a good weekend everyone!

It's A GIRL!!!

YAY!!!  Mommy Finally Gets to put Some PINK in the House!!!  We are so Excited to announce that Riley and Jayce get a little baby Sister!!!!

We are still letting the shock sink in . . . Daddy seems to think he knew all along (he kept saying there was a "fickle woman in there" - due to Mommy's crazy back-and-forth cravings), but it definitely took Mommy by Surprise - Pleasantly by Surprise!!!  Baby Girl is also happy and Healthy!  Everything looked good, and on target for December 26th due date (although let's hope she's at least a little early!)

Mommy is all ready to get started painting and crocheting pink!  Thankfully there's a few other things that have to happen first so that she can pace herself.  But she already knows what all she's doing!  Cherry blossoms in the room.  She fell in love with them in China, and hasn't had an excuse until now to use them in decorating.  Time to dig out all those paintings she bought overseas!!!

So for now here's a few ultrasound pictures to hold you over!
Profile shot
I know its hard to tell, but compare it to Riley and Jayce's and you can definitely tell the difference!!
Long legs . . . Do I see a future Gymnast?!?!
