Summer 2014 G&G Louie visit

At the end of July Grandma and Grandpa Louie came to visit us.  We were all so excited to see them! It had been a long time. The first full day they were here we took them to see the Fort Collins Museum of Discovery.  Jayce and Amara had annual checkups, so we all 7 piled into the car and headed to the doctor.  But when we got the ok from the doc that everyone was healthy (and Amara got all her shots - ouch!!!) we headed to the museum. Of course the kiddos loved it! Riley was having a blast playing with all the music stuff, and showing grandma and grandpa how to bite the straw to hear music. Amara and Jayce loved the "animals". The museum has a new live animal exhibit that showcases all kinds of bugs and reptiles and even rats and a beehive with an exit so the bees can go outside for pollen. It's really neat! Jayce was even brave enough to pet the hissing cockroach!
Thursday we all took a trip down towards Denver to go to the Butterfly Pavilion.  We had never been and we thought it would be a great time to go with Grandma and Grandpa. Everyone loved it! There were many exhibits for all of us, first the bug area where you could hold Rosie the Tarantula.  Riley didn't want to hold her. Jayce was kinda indifferent. So I told Cam, I bet if you get in line when you get up there Jayce will hold it. And he did!!! Riley ducked out of line once he realized what it was for, but Jayce braved it and held Rosie! And so did Daddy of course. I knew he wouldn't be able to resist!

Then there was an aquatics section. With things like lobster tanks and colorful fish. But the best part was that you could pet a horseshoe crab and a starfish! the kids thought that was really cool, Amara even let Daddy put her hand in!

Then came the best part, the butterfly room!  Just thousands of butterflies swirling around you!  It was gorgeous!  Everyone had a butterfly land on them at some point so it was really special. Jayce was wearing a bright orange shirt, and one butterfly in particular liked that one a lot. It was a Blue Morph, and it hung on to Jayce for a while!  Even Grandpa had one hitch a ride for so long that we had to shoo it off before we could leave.

After that we just kinda wandered around the grounds and looked at all the flowers, and ate lunch. It was a great day!

Friday was a more relaxed day and we all just kinda hung around the house. At one point  I took Riley to go get some school clothes, but we didn't do a whole lot but sit around and catch up.
Saturday Grandma and Grandpa got to spend a lot of time with their grandkids! I had a pageant to photograph for a friend of mine, and Daddy went for a long run, so Grandma and Grandpa babysat! They took a walk to the playground, and played until everyone was pooped out!

Sunday They watched them again so that Cameron and I could go on a hike. We hiked to the "A" above Hughes Stadium.  It was a great morning for a hike, a little warm, but beautiful day. And look how full the Reservoir is stil in August!!

Monday was their last day. It was hard to see them go. I know the boys especially (right now) love to spend time with Grandma and Grandpa.  Its a shame that we only get to visit with them like this a few times a year. I know it has to be hard for them to try to squeeze a years worth of spoiling into a few days time!  Can't wait to see you again G&G Louie!
